Bigfoot in Indiana (Yellowwood State Forest)

In May 2020, a father and his eleven-year-old daughter went spring turkey hunting in Yellowwood State Forest, behind their house near Nashville in Brown County, Indiana. It was a chilly morning and the leaves were only halfway out on the trees. “She seen it first, then I saw it,” the father wrote in his report to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO). “I watched in disbelief as it moved away from us.”

In that report he called it “approximately 6ft tall, grey in color and very, very strong looking.” A podcast retelling of the BFRO file gives a different number: it puts the estimate at 7 to 8 feet and says the daughter told the BFRO investigator the creature’s arms reached almost to its knees. The same retelling quotes the description that it had really big hands and looked like a football player, but a lot bigger.

What stuck with the podcast hosts was the distance. The figure reportedly crossed 50-plus meters of ground in seconds, and when the father and daughter walked the same path afterward it took them six minutes. Per the report, the family also found a couple of prints they believed came from the creature.

Not every telling agrees on the basics. The Horror Collection’s guide, under the heading The Yellowwood Lake Encounter (2020), says the father and daughter were camping near Yellowwood Lake and saw the creature at dusk rather than turkey hunting in the morning. It says the pair found 14-inch footprints the next morning and that BFRO investigator Eric Lester photographed the prints.

The BFRO lists the May 2020 father and daughter sighting as Class A. It isn’t the only report from these woods: in August 2015, campers at Yellowwood Lake heard deep howls answered from across the water.
